It is still possible for Linux to get a foot in the door. It takes an
aggressive suit to take advantage of this situation. Whether some of you
like it or not a Ballmer or similiar could get a rally going and maybe
double or triple the support Linux has with the hardware vendors. I don't see
SD As much as I'd like to see it happen, I don't think it'll work. Hardware
SD manufacturers will scramble to get XP support, and our lead will quickly
SD disappear. If only they scrambled to get GNU/Linux support...
And if only heaven was on earth :)
Honestly I dont understand, why all those

Hi All,
I'm writing this because I'm curious. With all the trouble with
WindowsXP having all these hardware issues, isn't it about time to get our
thinking caps on and re-focus our attention on the fact at this moment in
time we have an opportunity to exploit

You have to separate Linux server and desktop usage.

my girlfriends dad can't get anything usb to work. His HP printer nor his
sony camera work with usb, but the printer worked find using the parallel
port.
Linux versus WindowsXP HaredwareUntil hardware manufacturers start including
Linux drivers with their products (at the very least even a biniary module),
Some hardware vendors do, obviously not enough. Many manufacturers are afraid
to release their drivers into an open-source environment,
rock solid? the same as 2000 by the reports i have heard, and i crash 2000
15-20 times for every crash i have had on mandrake (one) and i have had
mandrake far longer and the crash was my own fault!
besides, it is the ms license that will kill them off, and that isn't good.
in a fair and
very true, i should have been more explanitory. but the fact that people are
discussing things like, will the agreement allow OEM's to install other
systems and sad tales like dr dos not to mention the fact the court has
found them guilty multiple times kinda says abuse to me. :)

In terms of boxes on desks, Linux is a very little penguin.
Massive server usage will never do anything in the quest for more hardware
support - servers don't need 3d cards etc etc etc
