I'm newbie in Linux, i'm installed Mandrake 7.1 and it's run perfectly. I've
only one problem, ... now... i think that i'll have more problems...
I've 128Mb of RAM but Linux only recognise
after I installed Lm and got the nic/vid working I noticed that linux was
only seeing 10M of my 127M of ram
I added the mem=128M to lilo.con ran lilo and rebooted
after the reboot I get a GPF (general protection fault) right after the
detection of memory
it reads:
CPU:0

As root, add the following to /etc/lilo.conf

then run /sbin/lilo

This is still a memory addressing issue -- someone has posted a solution to
this

Thi
Boot Linux and goto your /etc directory
edit lilo.conf
you'll see and append= line
change it to
append = "mem=256M"
Also, you can try
linux mem=256m at the lilo prompt, just to make sure
you don't mess anything up.
after you edit lilo.conf, run: lilo -v and reboot.

I've just had this problem, but Mandrake 6.1 only recognized 15M of RAM for
me, and I have 256M. Here's the advice I recieved from the Cleveland LUG:
Add the following line to the global options section of your /etc/lilo.conf
append = "mem=128M"
i have got 128mb of ram on my pc. but under the kde control centre, only
64mb is 'seen'. the swap memory is ok at 128mb.
i have got mandrake 6.1 installed.
how can i fix this?
I thought you just had to tell linux how much memory you have buy typing a
simple command at to console?

In /etc/lilo.conf type: append="mem=128mb"
