Hi,
I saw VNC mentioned on another mailing list and so I thought I'd try it;
so I downloaded it and then clicked on the downloaded file. kPackage
opened up and offered to install it, so I said yes and told it my root
password. But then:

Hi,
What's the format for a host URL in Kpack's config setup. I
tried both the Use remote host option (which disables all
other package formats except DEBIAN) and under the RPM-locations
button. Either I get a ROOT LOGIN or error popup from the remote

Title: RE: [newbie] kpackage in KDE 2.1
Kpackage should work just dandy. If it is not then you have a file that is corrupted or the installation was a bit out of order. I would first try doing a reinstall of the complete set of packages by going to console mode and using :
rpm -Uvh *.rpm
good luck. Dennis M.

Hi, this is my second day ever using any flavor of Linux so bare with me.
Here's my problem.Whenever I try to install an RPM with kpackage I
log in as root, open kpackage then open the RPM from there. Now the
problem is that it doesn't seem to install the RPM when I hit install. I

After clicking on install in the kpackage -- go to the "File List" tab -- and
see if the files have a green checkmark rather than the blue question mark.
If you see green - it's a go !

Kpackage is a program that will install and uninstall programs that come
in RPM form. A program packaged in RPM form will always have a ".rpm" on
the end. If you're interested, RPM stands for "Red hat Package Manager."
It was developed to make installing programs easier on people. Kpackage

In Kpackage, for example if I tell it to find a package containing a certain
file, I get the following error:
"kprocess error: Cann't start dpkg"
and then I get:
"Kprocess error: Cann't start kiss"
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Thanks to all for their patience.
Maybe something went wrong and the rpm database is messed up. Try to
run rpm to fix the problem (check with man rpm)
