well, so Linux allocates the drive designation /dev/hdbx based on it's read of the IDE channel. So, Ineed to change the placement of the drive on the cable? So, if I correct this, then do I need to re-format/re-write the partition table to get the drive re-asigned to /dev/hdax? Thanks,

I am struggling away here... looking through the old archives, found the advice: boot with a floppy then login as root. Rerun lilo by using the command lilo -v Since I went to /sbin/ and /etc looking for lilo and could not find it. I booted from the CDrom... Thanks, Michael Michael
