pdftex/xetex support is in the tex+mkii files
luatex support is in the tex+mkiv files
the deviattion of xetex from pdftex is currently not large enough to add
mkiii files

Yes, in cont-sys.tex, the \setupoutput is set to [pdftex]. When I
comment it out, everything works fine. :)

ConTeXt comes with its own map files, and that is what has your
system confused: it is using teTeX's map files (for dvips) still,

as the math-font in my typescript.
Copying them from the mac to the linux setup (where they have gone? with
an update? -- my Mac version is old!) did the trick.

To ConTeXt and I have a historical question. I noticed that the PDF
specification was published in 1993 yet ConTeXt was invented in 1991. The

Been away from Context for a while so please bear with me.
I just downloaded context-minimal to my home directory using the
