USB-based modem??? It would seem to me (being an old Fidonet sysop) that an

you can do a site to site VPN between the firewalls that doesn't care what
the endpoint systems are, whether Windows, Mac, HP JetDirect, etc ... The

Well, at an ISP I used to work for, we used some Cisco wireless gear and
managed to send a signal to a customer a couple miles away. Before that, we
used Microwave STL transceivers. 'Course those had to have FCC licenses. The
Cisco stuff was good 'cause it didn't require a license. It worked
