I agree a lot with what you are saying. But please take this on. It cost
our forefathers a lot of blood for the Free'doms we have. If we give
them up, it may take blood to get them back. The solution may be to
batten down the hatches in the short term, but that is only a band-aid.

Please, explain to the families of those missing or dead
why we should not give up any liberty in exchange for security;
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety

I suggest you read up on Benjamin Franklin and the other 55 men who eventually signed the Declaration of Independence. They were under no illusions. They knew they were committing high treason against the Crown and that the penalty for doing so was death by hanging

I am
curious what we could have done different to prevent Tuesday, as Andrew

I agree William.
How could you comprehend something like this, let alone prepare for it. Now
that it has happened, no one should be blamed for a lack of security, whatever.
The fact is, if someone wants to breach security bad enough, they will. Its
what we keep

The measures that need to be changed are the security checkpoints. The metal detectors and x-rays. Keeping the U.S. Marshals on the planes like they did in the past. Restricting (and actually ENFORCING) the carry-on bags (quantity and size). All these things would help
- Require inspection of all luggage and persons boarding aircraft.
That's fine with me.
- Require passengers to show photo ID at the security gate.
I showed it 5 times at Heathrow, what's another time or two?
- Forbid un-ticketed people beyond the security gate.
I agree. Domestic as well

Granted people could still carry makeshift,
non-metal weapons on themselves,
but maybe we need a general pat-down as
well. I would gladly deal with that
extra "hassle" to prevent this sort of thing
from happening again.

won't even bother providing
