Just wanted to update that the Black Vultures in the abandoned home on Seely
Place in Scarsdale do indeed have at least one chick. I was informed by the

of a cell tower platform and a osprey nest on the side top of the tower. Never
seen both nesting with each other:-) Cool. It was in Scarsdale off Central

The previously posted Amityville mottled duck was still there as of around
2:15pm today. It flew south but lost it so not sure where it landed. Seemed
to be chasing black ducks around.

While out herping tonight in Sterling Forest S.P. area I heard and saw more
than 13 Woodcocks. I had at least seven at once at the parking area by the
visitor center just before dark. One or two flew right by me at eye level:-)

I just took a look at my poor photos of the two gulls at Old Point mentioned in
my previous post and still think the Herring isn't Shai's gull, but I may be
wrong. The black-backed gull is defintatley larger than the Herrings it's with

When I got there I found on the rocks at the end of the road a Herring Gull
with dull yellow legs, but the mantle looked to be the same color as the other

After seeing the fabulous Slaty-backed Gull and the Glaucous Gull this am early
I decided to take a walk around the Ramble and North end to see what was

Just saw that the widely ranging Steller's Sea-Eagle has been seen in US
finally in Dighton, MA, on the 9th I believe. Unfortunately it wasn't reported
until today and hasn't been seen since. It was only a matter of time it would
end up back in the US:-) Keep an eye out.

atleast an hour. Did have a flock of pipits and a Kestrel as well as savanna
sparrows.

As of this evening at dusk the Great White Heron was still there with the other
herons and Laughing Gulls south of Marie's Pt. Gave great looks in the fading
light. Nice to have seen them in CT, NY, and FL:-)

eventually died and is now in the Yale museum. Hope this one survives better.

Has anyone narrowed down the meadowlark from Croton Pt. Park last February that
was with the redpolls, sparrows, etc. along the path to ssp.? From my photos
it sure looks like argutula from the southeast. Just wondering.

Had a funny experience today along the Taconic Parkway. As I was nearing the
northbound exit 8 I saw just above car level and along the side of the road a
