Even I could see similar issue with fans list. My orkut fans list till
yesterday(August 5th 2010) was around 4 but today it shows as 32 fans
within my profile and if we click on the fans tab it will list only 4.
So was bit confused.

If the apps are vulnerable, i suggest that you first update
your XML to disable app access from the users. This will protect the
users before Orkut is able to delete these apps.
