YaST believes that alsa is still present. I didn't
looked details so first I would try to update alsa.
No, the first action should be to rebuild the rpm database, man rpm
search for rebuilddb. Then Yast will know what is on the system and
can take whatever steps necessary.

to be related to kde but I'm not sure yet. I have switched to xfce
and have noticed no problems, but withhold judgement until I can be
more sure.
