Wyong too. Zero epidural (and miniscule transfer
rate for same). gorgeous waterbirths. Not yet 1-2-1 but should be available in
the next twelve months on the central coast (we think, then again we thought
that twelve months ago!)

in the Western Suburbs of NSW I know Nepean

All the rooms at Nepean have big round tubs (in delivery suite notjust the closed birth centre)and there are water birth protocols so a water birth would be possible if she is prepared to stand up for it or have a doula etc with her. but it is generally very interventionalist ... it is a shame

There is a Birth Centre at Blacktown and at Auburn
Also one at Bankstown
Bankstown Hospital is an un-sung hero

Ive supported a few times at Blacktown. The Birth
Centre is a room down the hall off the same corridor as the labour ward
rooms. There are no pools, just normal sized baths and as far as I know (correct
me if Im wrong) it depends

Jo is right, I too have supported at
several hospitals over nearly 20 years and I am breath-taken at
the wonderful attitude of the midwives and doctors at Royal Prince Alfred
Hospital at Camperdown perhaps this is as a result of tv
stage 3!!! won't be letting him forget that
he said that.

Morning, Mackay Nth Queensland has a birth Centre and is currently prepareing their
10th Annual report. Also our Friends of Mackay Birth Centre (FMBC) are currently
organizing a web page and link up with the Brisbane Birth Centre. The ACMI Darwin
conference our NPC Mackay Womens Health Unit

I'm seeking a bit of assistance to determine the exact number of birth
centres, public and private in Australia. If possible, a state by state
breakdown would provide the most detail. Can anyone recommend a source for
this info? Our websearches had limited results.
