It's a little awkward at first because you have to use the jaws cursor to

Mathew, try Radio Shack. May not be an exact one like the dectalk models but you can
find one there.

Hello, I've got Jaws running through the onboard sound card, and all other
audio coming through the SB Live, and wonder if anyone can point me toward a
speaker that was like the DecTalk one? It's just one little speaker with a
volume control. That's all I need.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Brad. I suppose it would depend on whether your DVD player plays MP3's.
My other DVD player didn't. That's why I bought one that did; but this one
doesn't play WMA files; so I may have to consider purchasing one that does;
and also, this DVD player doesn't play MP3's that are produced at a low

Hello everyone,
Well, I wanted to report that I just tried using the noise reduction, with
the help I got earlier tonight. And I was able to clean up that hiss quite
nicely. There is now no trace of it what so ever.
I used it on a song I had that had hiss, and I used it on one of the recent

PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines,
I use it all the time. Really, the recording ability lies in the sound
card, not the recording program.

Hi,
I successfully burned a disk full of mp3's, but I can't get the disk
to play in my regular DVD/VCR combo. How can one create a dvd full of
mp3s and have it play like an mp3-cd will play in those machines which
support mp3? Thanks,

Also your computer is a strong local radio source that
tends to get in to everything. Short of making sure
your computer is grounded, and surrounding it with
tinfoil, not much you can do, you could try toroids on
all the cords I guess, but having the radio right next

Hi Shawn,
Thank you for all this info. I'm going to try these things, and see how it
works for me.
As for my tape player's volume, yes it gets messed with a lot. I record a
lot of things, and so I'm always having to adjust it.
And yes, the tape player is connected to the line in of my sound card.
Well, for $6 Canadian, you don't get more than the humreduction.
Basically, it hooks into the line between your stereo and the computer via
RCA or mini plugs. It comes with an adaptor so you can use either. So you
insert it in the line and forget about it.
Radio reception can be a picky thing,
Hello Bruce,
Oh thank you for mentioning that. This was what I have been trying to think
of. I had heard of this gadget before, but I couldn't think of what it was
called.
How exactly does it work?
And does it do more than just cut out hum?
I ask this, because I have an indoor FM antenna connecte

I'm particularly interested in hearing some specific models of receivers
that are highly accessible forblind users. I'm not interested in high-end
products, but anything from the moderate or middle of the pack.
Also, I'd consider a model from a few yearsback if it's highly accessible,
and I do
I'd recommend a very inexpensive little gadget from Radio Shack, if you
can find one, called a ground loop isolator. I was getting a hum whenever
I tried recording from my satellite receiver, and the ground loop isolator
eliminated it completely. It was something like six bucks Canadian.

Hi Harry,
I'm not sure what you mean. Could you please explain?
If you mean, why don't I record the show with a program such as GoldWave,
while it is on. Well, I would do that, except I get some sort of weird
interference with both my stereos, whenever I try connecting them to the
computer.
I thi
Hi Terri. Well, is your recorder plugged in to line
in? If so, can you hear the audio through your
speakers? You know, it may be you're recording at
different volumes at different times, or does the
volume control on the tape player never get touched?
If volumes are too high, you'll distort because
why don't you stream the radio show directly in streaming audio using a
sound editor?

Hello everyone,
I've got a couple of questions, and I'm hoping that someone can help me out.
I'm using GoldWave version 5.
Every week I record a radio show onto tape, and then I go and put it onto
the computer. However, a lot of times the files come out with some sort of
distortion. And it's not
When you choose "What You Hear" then you have to go back into the
Playback Properties of the Volume Control and be sure that the things you
want to record are unmuted. This includes Line In, Microphone, Wave etc.
It really means what it says, "What You Hear". Other Sound Cards call "What
