Hello List
those adapters were no fun, we used to use a lathe and what ever materials
we had on hand to make caps that would fit over the drive motor. this would

Hi all, I have a question about a distorsion that sometimes happens in my

I have a dbx vocal processor connected to a m-audio delta1010lt, and
sometimes when I record from a rode connected to this processor the

Hello Garry,
I still have a copal of those old talking book record players.
I could get them to work if only I could find replacement tubes for the 6P19
tubes.
Those amplifiers in those old machines, are push-pull.
You have 6 tubes in the amplifier altogether.

I have a question for you.

you have it sat a little to high.

Hello Kevin,
I used to loop parts of songs together and record them.
And then put the recordings in the C-77 machine and flip the track selector.
It would play the track backwards which is what I wanted.
We would run it in to a mixer and record it again but this time, with a drum
machine playing

High Garry,
You are correct, that is a power tube.
The 6P19 tube was also used as a receiver to the picture tube in small black
and white television sets in the 1950's through the mid 1960's.
A Russian company called Sovtek, makes the 6C19PI tube.
But that is a totally different circuit
Here's something to think about. If the NLS players weren't made to also play
music, they probably wouldn't have designed the headphone Jack and amp to play
stereo. Also, the audio quality of that speaker is clearly designed for
something bordering on hi fidelity. The base response of that

Well, what it was designed for and what it will do are different
questions than what NLS is committing and willing to support.
I for one have no problems funding the NLS, the Talking Books program

Hello Christopher,
Lets face some facts here.
The majority of iPods and MP3 players that are on the market, aren't blind

If it works, it works.
There is an old saying that goes, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
I'm glad the NLS player is a versatile MP3 player for blind people,

Hello Tom,
This much is true.
They may know what the machines will do, but I think they were trained to
discourage people from doing that.
But as you know, that tactic never worked.
Because, as I stated before, people have been doing that for more then 70
years.

Hello Armando,
High quality condenser mikes are excellent.
You can use them for just about anything.
If you're here in the USA, go to:

They have some very good condenser mikes there.

High Garry,
Those tubes are still in high demand today.
Professional musicians and audio phials like me, are using them in their
guitar and hi phi amplifiers.
Pared up with a really good set of power tubes like the 6550 KT88 5881 6L6
6CA7 EL34 or KT77 tubes, they can and do sound really good.
Hello Armando,
For quite a few years, I've always used the mikes that are made by Peavey.
Every now and then, I will use a mike that was made by Yamaha.
There are others out there, but these are pretty good ones and don't cost a
whole lot.
My best regards.

Hello Victoria,
Use an audio editor like Sound Forage or Gold Wave to record your talking
book tapes.
Convert them to .MP3 with Switch and or any other audio file converter.
Then copy it to the cartridge, and there you are.
Now all you have to do is, put the cartridge in the player and go to
