Yep you can set up a VPN but there's very little point in doing that if
you don't have a VPN provider.
That's where services like Witopia are dead handy because they provide
you with the server so you can set your VPN up but - even better than
that - you don't have to know a single thing
Interesting to hear you say that, I know others who use Windows Media 12
- think it is now - with Windows 7 and I've not heard any noise when it
comes to accessibility issues etc, I know people who use this
extensively and no other.

Only my way of thinking of course but it does sound to me like very
unecessary and time wasting work doing something like this and I say
that with a variety of reasons in mind.
Yes, I do udnerstand that many of us are cash strapped - thought I'd
point that out before those who can't read
Someone please:
What is VPN, what does it do, and why would one want and use it?
Thanks.

In my case I only need one to listen to programs on bbc five live and bbc
five live extra which you cannot hear outside the UK. So the bbc server
actually thinks that you are connecting from inside the UK. I haven't found
any other way to do this than using a VPN like witopia.

I have found that you can not use a bluetooth headset or a headset like the
logitech h800 with its own transmitter when taking calls on the mac.
You have to use the built-in microphone or the mic input and headphones input
on your mac to make it work properly.

I don't know of any portable players that support flac files personally. Not

Its an issue I never investigated to be honest because I have other ways of
answering calls on the Mac than using the controls on that headset which are
rather hard to press, I assigned various keyboard shortcuts on the Mac to

Hep, subject line says everything and this may be round the corner.
I wanted to forward the original eMail on this subject to the list
however the author of same - as it stands - hasn't given me permission

It is hoped that the product will be available

I'm not a programmer myself so can't comment but - last I heard - SAM
Broadcaster couldn't be made accessible due to the programming language
it was written in.
I did myself use SAM Broadcaster for quite a hwile - even at that time -
it did require some skill at mouse manipulation but
I really look forward to seeing what they come up with. With SPL and scripting,
blind users have a tonne of features which go way over and above what SPL can
do out of the box, so there are going to have to be many many compelling
benefits in order to switch.

Hi,
SAM Encoders: major screen readers have scripts for it (I'm responsible for one
of them). As for it becoming accessible, I don't think so.
As for the new kid on the block, I sent a message to developers to see if NVDA

Hi Brian and all,
I'm testing the latest version of the new kid and it does require scripting to
some extent. It is written in Delphi and uses TDK GUI framework. At this point,
there's no indication as to whether the mic is on or off, some fields are not

Hi,
Beta of the new kid is more accessible - buttons are properly labeled, yet a
few issues (some major ones) remain (if only scripters can access the API...).
