I shoot AV almost all the time with my *istD. When shooting with handheld long glass, I usually switch to TV in order to makes sure I have enough shutter speed. I meter with the camera and check the histogram after a shot or two. I use matrix metering for the most part. In difficult situations

I use Pec pads and Eclipse and a Sensor swipe wand. It works well though it may take a few attempts to get all the dust off. I also find it's a pain to wrap the pad around the wand. I have also spent the money on Visible Dust brush to use for not so stuck on dust - it should be quicker
