It doesn't appear that the 3229 could be modified either.
However it looks as though you could replace the tilt head
with a small QR ballhead, then you could have the correct
orientation.
The only purpose of the tilt is to let the lens down to
rest in the cradle, since
Adorama carries the Kenko, Tamron and Tokina.
The Tokina is the lowest priced 7 element 2x.
I have/have had the Tamron and Promaster 4 and
7 element ones, the 7 element are far better
optically.(Tamron and Promaster are identical.)
They are very usable but image quality still
suffers noticably.

Hi Guys,
I wanted to use two manual focus lenses more effectively on my Pentax
ZX-5n and ordered the split image focusing screen of ZX-M. It arrived today.
Now how do I change it? I have changed the screen on my PZ-1 (I used
a Beattie Intenscreen). That was very easy. Any instructions/tips for
Pretty much the same as the PZ-1 except on the 5n the little
release tab hides behind the mirror bumper foam.
