I played with the shadow compensation feature in the K-7 this
week-end, to see how much it actually compressed the histogram. It
looked good on the camera screen, and the amount of detail lifted out
of the mirk was quite significant, using the Pentax/Silkypix software.

a backup. When the K7 was introduced I bought one and sold the K10. Believe

What I would like to know is how you judge the exposures. If you apply
sharpening to the exposures before counting line pairs, for example.
Which raw file converter you use is also important, as they seem to
vary in their ability to extract detail. And
I've been thinking about this colour thing for a bit too. Pink isn't
my favourite either... :-)
But today there's already a well-established aftermarket for skinning
both cameras and lenses. Most oldtimers on the list will remember the
snake-skin leatherette varieties applied to the LX (César,
Torched forest and fire in the sky.
The way the trees are aligned towards the horizon amplifies it for me.

The principle of this is much more than just semantics. The
photographer was present where the photo was made. What to include is
the photographer's informed decision based on first hand accounts. An
editorial crop will always be second-guessing the photographer's
observation, and maybe put their
nice shot and autumn colours.

Varroa, based on general body shape. The mites (i'm pretty sure
they're mites anyway) are longer than they are broad. The Varroa
isn't, except for some very early development stages.
