As a proud owner of both, i can say that you should definitely start with the
KX. For a beginner, i think you should start going all manual exposure,
because auto is just too tempting for me at least. You'll learn a lot more
about making your shots happen in manual. You can use the super A/super
This was sort of a random question i came to. What would the image quality be
if Glenn set up a mirror opposite his window, and then took the photos facing
backwards to the goings-onless conspicuous IMO. This would probably
necessitate a tripod though. This question brings me to a question i

Half of those are probably mine. My daily routine is to check E-bay, then
KEH, Then the KMP, then BOA's lens review.then finally the
checkbookand nothing happens after that.

I have a fairly similar introductoin into photography. I used to not take
photographs much at all. I then began dating my significant other who has
some obsession with scrapbooks, so a camera became a regular third wheel in
the relationship. It only took about $15 of my own money into proce

I'm looking for a fairly decent portrait lens. Is this a quality piece of
equipment? They aren't that expensive on E-bay (about $100) so i was
wondering.

After selling my K-1000 and becoming acquainted with a SuperProgram, i am
feeling the desire to sell most of my K and M lenses and replace them with
A's. Any idead on the best way to go about doing this. Buy then sell, or sell
and then buy.
I'd like to take my 24/2.8 and get the A...but i
This is the title of my E-bay auction:
"Pentax K-1000 w/ SMC-M 1:2 50mm -Great!- NR !"
This is the e-mail i get from a prospective buyer:
"Does that come with a 50mm lens?"
maybe there was confusion about my abbreviation for with by using "/w"...I dunno.

I have and use the 285HV. Its a great machine, but it is definitely a
beast. It even dwarfs my less than small KX, and makes my superprogram look

yet another incident of the "swearing" just comming out from nessecity

The discussion was about my K1000's light meter being screwy at slow
shutter speeds with the ISO at a high level (eg. 1/30sec at 3200ISO, and 1/2

with the range of the light meter, and that (B) it had nothing to d

My K-24/2.8's aperture blades seem to get stuck in between f-11 and f-8. What
would cause this. Oil or dirt or something on the blades? They look fairly
clean to me. Is servicing recommended, or should i just deal with it?

I am not sure if everyone experiences this proble., or if it is unique to
me. It appears that i am unable to use the light meter at shutter speeds
longer than about 1/100th of the ASA. Example-- at ASA 200, the light meter
jumps(fast) to positive when the shutter is set at 1 second. Similar
How much do the K-24/2.8 go for? Think i got a pretty good deal on mine. I
bought it along with a M-200/4 and a K-55/1.8 for about $270...i probably
could have done a little better.

I'm firmlly under the impression that people enjoy swearing. It fun. But
we can't be so flippant as to just curse for no reason. Then we would all be

I'm having some problems with my K 24/2.8. The lense is otherwise perfect
(for my tastes anyway), but the aperture blades have decided not to budge
below the in-between point of f11 and f8. The aperture ring does move though.
I don't usually use an aperture that small with this lense, b/c i
Perhaps i should have been a little more specific...I am primarily going
to use a 50/1.4 and a 24/2.8, and 100 speed print film is what i use most of

This is probably a question that gets asked a whole bunch, but I have
been away from the PDML for about a year. A lengthy response needn't be
required if a suitable link or reference to an archived PDML can be supplied.
