I've looked at this one a couple of times. Funny, but I like it the
way it was presented, but I also like it with the upper portion
cropped off, just leaving the boats. It makes for a totally different
picture and very cool one at that.
Nice job!

Thanks, Jay. This was shot handheld. Yeah, that Tokina is a fine
lens. A few years ago, I had a Pentax A 400/5.6 lens. I have found
the Tokina to be a pretty similar performer (closer focusing, by far)
in a much more compact and usable package. It is a keeper for sure.

t need to worry about compression. Then do a series of
convert/compressions to jpg to see how small you can make it without
causing problems. For the most part, you should be able to size to
about 800 pixels on the long edge and be less than 300K and still have

current DSLR's. Not so much crop for 8X10, 11X14, etc. However, this
already exists in the Olympus 4/3rds system.
So I would lean towards a real high ISO mode that produces usable
results.

Hello Dario,
It is pretty cool. The explanation does help to know why they are
there. I especially like the inclusion of the person with the cell
phone. Adds something to the mix. Nice shot!

I use both a Samsung flatscreen CRT and a high end Fujitsu Crystal

Hey now, wait a minute! It took a while to get the Nikonian Bruce R.
off the list so I could be the only one. Now you're trying to pawn a
Doug off on to my name - sorry, I got first dibs.

I like this one. The location really works. Not the usual looking
Bridge shot. The location warrants some more exploration concerning
lighting and time. Nice work!

You apparently have more arms than I do . I can only manage two
cameras at once. You do realize that you can take a lens off and put
a different lens on - you don't need a body for each lens :)

That is correct. In my usage, a 40X WA Lexar card is as fast as it
can go. Not even sure it is that fast. I can say that my 4gb
microdrives are the same speed as the 40x Lexar card.
The D is just a bit pokey by today's standards.

Hello Shel,
That describes the experience I had. Great on film, not so hot on
digital. I've owned two different samples over time. The first I
only tried on film. If it were me, I'd stick with your K 24.

Nice shot. The strong contrast and saturation work very well with the
subject. I love the hat. A more unusual angle makes this very
enjoyable.

Yes, I see what you mean. I switched to RAW a long time ago and
pretty much stick to it. Unless there is a very specific reason to
shoot jpg, which, for me, is fairly rare.

Much better. I like this one. What really makes it interesting is
the narrow street lined with cars, the cyclist and the oncoming car.
Makes you wonder just how well everything is going to fit and who is
going to give in (game of chicken).
Nice shot!

Somehow, this comes across as too busy without anything to really pull
my attention. I just find my eyes wandering around in the frame with
no place to land.

of this one - slightly different perspectives and focal lengths.
The second has such a strong sky - it is very good.
I appreciate your sharing with us.

Somehow this photo is amusing to me. I think because of the cap keeper with

Nice portrait of the Cockatoo. Love the background color - it really
works well with the bird.
As to the first, I think I've seen that same picture somewhere before
