It would have been much more powerful an image if
you'd made it before they moved the lighthouse, and
then it was destroyed before or during the move.
But thankfully, the 12 million dollars they spent to
slide it a half mile across the island wasn't wasted.
Such a long climb, but such a nice vi
I don't know yet, but I have some ideas. I think my
Nikon-using sister might have gotten me a 77mm
skylight filter for my Vivitar 24-48 f3.8
chunk-o-zoom.
Mom got me a small bundle, feels like it may be a
shirt that caught my eye at the cracker barrel. Also
the label says it has a secret... maybe
>>That got me to wondering how
many people here have never used a fully manual camera
- no autofocus, no
modes, no built-in meter. Anyone?
No built in meter? So this rules out the K1000. That's
the simplest camera I've used, aside from a two dollar
110 that wasn't really useable. (pics came out

>>So someone got this for £295 - except they are not a
registered user. How does that work?
They were registered at the end of the auction, but
since then they've closed their ebay account, or ebay
closed it for them.

I should have expected such from a NutDriver. :) Now
that you mention it, that's a fine idea.

one is going fine,
why bother?

So do any of y'all go without entering the photo
competition?

I'm not sure if I want to be bothered to stress over a
formal competition. It would be fun to hang out with
fellow Pentax fanatics though. How
I saw mention of it in another recent message. I
joined this list right before the previous GFM
weekend, and thus missed it.
It's not too far from where I'm at, and I know the
area. But is this an event I'd enjoy? What's it like?
I'm tempted to go to this one.
This may be blasphemy on a Pentax discussion list, but
I have an older Fuji (FinePix 2650) point and shoot
digital, and I'd suggest ya take a look at what they
currently offer. I don't know what the fstop range of

My dad flies those things. He tried to get me into the
hobby when I was about 12 years old or so, but I just
couldn't get the hang of flying an airplane from the
ground. I can do okay with a computerized flight
simulator where my viewpoint is from inside the
aircraft tho.

I was feeling adventurous this afternoon and decided
to open up my Viv wide-normal zoom and see if I could
find out why it wobbled near the mount.
First, the black inner part of the mount comes off to
allow more visibility. 3 tiny screws and it pulls
straight out. Then, the five screws around the
I've been looking for a while at getting a portrait
lens in the 70-85 range. The A85/1.4 is prohibitively
expensive, the K85/1.8 is also out there, and even the
"lowly" M85/2 tends to go for more than I can swing at
this point.
I occasionally see M42 and M39 lenses in this range on
ebay, some Zei

I guess I'll be forced to stick with my $250 LX then.
What did the LX sell for when new anyway?

I'd also like something similar to the LX. Not sure if
I'd want it to have AF as well or not though. Heck,
why not just bring back an LX Super (LX +
A-compatibility, improved mirror bumper, even better
metering, yet retain compatibility with old LX accessories)

Ah, I see. So the random chance of an LX going cheap
on ebay was my "enablement" ;)
Now I just need to be "enabled" with some more glass
(20-ish, 85, 200, 300) and a motor drive. ;)
