That's not correct: the Canon Pro-1 does not require a circular
polarizer. It has no beam splitters or reflecting mirrors in the
light path to any sensor.

yup - I know. I had to switch to circular when I
got my Lx's
Linear polarizers are cheaper and more efficient
It can cause problems with autofocus and focus confirmation. Pentax
autofocus sensors are underneath a semi-silvered portion of the reflex
mirror. If you're not relying on either you'll have no problem,
otherwise you should use a circular polarizer.
