this happens with my Contax RXs too. The ping seems to depend on which
lens is on the body. For instance, the 35/1.4 pings like a u-boat, but
the 50/1.4 doesn't. The ping tone varies from body to body aswell.

If the Contax has a mechanical diaphragm like Pentax,
then the noise is prolly coming from the lens not the
body. Which would explain why different lenses sound
different.

No, it wasn't there. Neither was the new flash. Only the body
togehter with new FA 24-90/3.5-4.5.
Speaking for the lens, it looks like typical FA lens with black
barrel. It feels better than my FA 28-70/4 though. Both zoom and
focusing
