Does anyone have a KX?
Is it as reliable (meter, durability) as the K1000, please?
I miss having a fully manual no nonsence Pentax film body, since I sold my
K1000.
The Black KX's is quite pleasing to the eye.

I second that, it's more like an MX in a K1000 shape.
You even have mirror pre-fire which is not a feature of the MX (yes I
know you can cheat but officially it is not a feature).
Indeed a common problem is the little mirror for the arperture reading
in the viewfinder.

I've 3 Jens, one black, one silver and one for spares (silver), they
I can only back up what others have said. A great camera - if you can get a
good one, far superior to the K1000. The meter on mine is spot on.
Mine's a chome version - It's difficult to find a black one that doesn't show
brassing.

The last KX I bought had this problem. I just took the top cover off,
carefully re-aligned the mirror, and put the cover back on.

Ican do it but most of the time the shutter will act. As I don't wanna
lose a frame I use my KX :D

I don't know, I bought a friend a KX as a Christmas present a few years
ago, to replace a stolen K1000. She's never used and went darkside
digital not long after for a trip to India. Ended up using a Minolta
film P&S leaving the DR at home. (Yes, I know. I don't understand

It's a common problem, and easy to fix. There's a tiny mirror sitting
on a flexible metal hold

When I got it it had the mirror bumper glued on the mirror and light

Is there a serious KX expert out there amongst you?
The reason I ask is this. I bought a non working KX a while back as a parts
body for the one I already own, the previous owner said it would only wind on
one or two frames, it had been repaired twice but still had the same problem.

Sadly the KX meter is a one of a kind. I think you can use Spotmatic F,
K1000 and KM meters interchangeably
(I may be wrong about the KM). The KX was a whole other bird.

IIRC you do if you want the meter to stay on, I never think when I'm using
the MX it's like an extension of my mind and body, I'd have to check that.

It's described as an "Excelent+++" Pentax KX... yet the listing states
the light meter doesn't work! Personally I'd say that justifies
removing the "+++". And the "excellent", too.
By the way, I've seen lots of examples of the Pentax KX,
