card and the camera has already taken
some incredibly good micrographs. But I
can say for sure that the *ist D I have
here -- serial number 5501200 -- will
not allow changes via the menu unless
there's a card in the slot.

I think the camera should work without a card. Well, at least allow you
to change settings and control it from the computer with the remote
assistant software. Your *ist-D may have a problem. For example, I've
never been able to get the OK button on my *ist-D to fire the flash, (I
don't know

camera hooked up to his computer. In those cases where the photo is
being transferred directly between the PC and camera, you wouldn't, or

That's kind of you but the one that's on

$12 plus postage of $8. I'll get more of

Then just stick a 64 meg card in the slot. You can get one for peanuts. When I
use my camera with Remote Assistant, I have a card in the slot. It doesn't get
used; the camera writes to the computer hard drive, but all of the software is
happy.
