Uneven mats don't bother me. Sometimes I prefer them. Precut mats are now
widely available in sizes that fit the digital frame. I mount most of my full
-frame digital pics with 11 x 17 mats, which are now widely available. In a 16
x 24 frame, the mat area is uneven but the results are attractiv

Picture framers almost always make the mat a little bigger at the
bottom. Apparently even matting makes the pic look a little too low

That does have the benefit, Ann, that all the prints are the same size
which simplifies filing a bunch. It happens to be my way of doing things
too. All finished prints smaller than 8.5x11 are printed on 8.5x11
centered on the paper.

Although I haven't mounted any of my prints yet I plan to get pre-cut
mattes in 3:2 and 4:3 ratios as appropriate, in standard paper and
frame sizes, and print to fit the matte-hole. This depends on me
always shooting to the aspect ratio of course, which is what

the outer edge of the mat to fit a standard frame size because the
non-standard frames are either terribly expens
