Yes, its hard to tell with out looking at the print, but from my experience the most easy (not always the cheapest) way to spot a picture would be to scan it and retouch it in photoshop. the only problem is finding a scanner big enough for your print. But most larger printing studios have them.

You don't really have to by-pass the autoexposure - I just removed the lens and shutter blades (on a time-zero camera) and replaced them with a pinhole and a homemade shutter to control exposure. After making the exposure - you press the shutter button and the camera goes thru its normal exposu
