I probably haven't figured out how to ask this question of the search engines. From time to time a grayed out icon shows up on my Xubuntu 18.04 desktop. Sometimes it's labeled 4.1 Kb volume. Tonight I have one just labeled Volume. Right clicking on them offers to "Open" or "Mount volume".
