I have 2 questions.
1. Can I play mp3 (or wave, or...) sound files on my Pb190? (Mac OS 7.5.3)
2. If yes, then:
where can I find such a software for download.
I tried to find somewhat on the net, but all I have found, they're work
only on PPC machines.

No. Not on any 68K Mac. But you can decode MP3 (slowly) to AIFF (lots of
disk space) using SoundApp 68K.

I have had the same issue with my PB540c - I think that neither has
enough CPU speed/power to do it. Maybe under another OS at 8-bit mono
8khz but what fun would that be. ;-)
The 500 does have 16-bit/44KHz, Mike - but I'm sure you already know that
:-)

The clock on my trusty old PB180 has stopped , the seconds in date and
time doesn't change :-(
The clock in the date time control panel doesn't show the correct date
and time. It is impossible to set the date and time: when the time has been
set it just picks a random date time.

520) and how much does it cost? How much faster speed does ultra wide give
you, or is it a matter of being able to use more current devices?

I had the same experience (no hard drive spin up, just
clicking) when I inadvertently fried my old HD. I knew
right away, tho, what the cause of the HD melt-down
was--I forgot to install a SCSI terminator. This was
easily, albeit a bit expensively, fixed. I would hold
off on popping your new HD

and reinstalled System 7.5.5 in

PowerPC? Anybody know what the procedure is, and where to get the upgrade?
Also, I assumed from my lack of sound that there's probably a minor hardware
problem (I'm betting a simple broken or disconnected wire) in my Duo. I

PB 5300 is pretty much in retirement since I got my Pismo. Don't worry I will

I appreciate the input, Mike, but there is no speaker jack on the back of a
Duo 280C. However, the principle is sound enough, and I should be able to
