I just bought a PowerBook 190cs for $50 with 20mb of ram and a PC card
modem.
For practically nothing, do you mean like that?
My company is closing shop and has probably a dozen used 190 PB's
that can be had for practically nothing. Interested?

Hi,
I have seen a powerbook 190 in a secondhand store but I have one
question. On the top of the LCD screen there is a powerpc stamp. But as
far as I can tell the powerbook 190 has a 68040 cpu.
Could this have had its screen replaced or is something else up with it?
Its running OS 7.5.5 and has
Well, it could have been upgraded to a 5300 logicboard. Or, someone could
have replaced the screen bezel with one from a 5300.Or, it could just be a
5300 with a 190 sticker. But yes, it is very possible that someone put a
5300 Mobo in that 190. Out of curiosity, how much is the shop asking?
Hope
They are asking $NZ250 ($US139approx). I might have to go and have
another look at it.

Well, I would definately check those specs! 40 meg HD? That is extremely
small, and could barely hold 7.5.5! Actually, I don't even think it could.
My guess is it has 40megs free on the HD. Like John said run Apple System
Profiler on it. I am positive it was installed with 7.5.5, but just

The usual cause of this is a corrupt AppleShare PDS file on the

adapters and power supplies?
