How much RAM do you have? 8.6 needs much more than 8.1. ( 32 or 48 vs 16? Anyone remember exactly how much 8.6 likes vs what the docs say it requires?) I ran 8.6 smoothly on 1400/117s with 64 Meg of RAM (VM off) before upgrading the 117s to G3 CPUs. 9.1 was slow on the 117s, but great with G3 u

PB 3400 & Power Inverter problem

Rather than getting a 12 v adapter for my 3400 when I want to compute on in the car (usually on long trips with my wife driving), I got an inverter. Unfortunately the inverter shuts itself off when I plug in the PowerBook. Sometimes it happens right away and sometimes after a minute or two. the
