Hi,
I am fine tuning the PCB on an amplifier circuit.
The circuit requires 'Kelvin' (or loner!) paths to
components on the same nets as other paths.
Obviously the autorouter puts them into the
shortest path and I was wondering if there is a
way to keep them seperate.
Eg:

Dear List members,
Today the load nets function of my Protel99SE(SP6)'s PCB Editor failed
to function. And now the sweet story:
After a small change in the schematic editor, R23 has pin one to VCC and
the other to an IC.
The net list generator generates the exact connections naturally because

Hello all
How to import/load Protel PCB Version 1.5 library components

Suresh,
Do you have PCB 1.5? What about PCB V2.8?
Is the
Did you run an ERC to see if the resistor is flagged with a connection

Suresh,
I just managed to import an old AUTOTRAX library (last update in 1994) into
an existing P99 library design database simply by drag and drop.
It looks like its all working ok.
So I suggest to create a new library.ddb and drag and drop your *.lib files
in the new database.
Hope this is the
Yes, it is very possible to do an automatic copper pour.
It's in the Place menu and it's called Polygon Plane. You can place it on
any layer and connect it to a net of your choosing. When you're on the
Polygon Plane dialog box, click on help and read all about it.

Also, is it possible
Hello, all:
I have a double sided PCB about 4 x 4 in. square, supported by mounting
holes, 1 in each corner. I want to pour a polygon ground plane on the top
side. The plane will cover probably about 80% of the board area. There
will be no plane on the bottom side. Am I going to have a
there is a 'issue' w/ the 'lomax short' of which you should be aware
it bit me!
(i forget if i already posted this)
after using the lomax short without probs on several jobs, one day a
board shop called and
reported that there was a small gap between some pads, should they 'fix'
it?
i said no
Ivan,
I do designs like this all the time and have had very little trouble
with board warp. I assume that you are talking about FR4 material, total 1
oz. Cu? The controlling issues would be:
1) Do not thermally shock the boards, 'rapid' heat or cool cycle (ie. hot
oil solder reflow
Ivan,
I just did a 4 X 2 one with 100% plane coverage on the backside and light
circuitry on the front side. There is no warping on .062 FR4.
I wouldn't expect you to have any problems with this.

Most of our boards are RF and as such rely heavily on ground planes . Using
the cross hatch rather than solid pour cures the warping problem on .062
FR4 . One other method is if it's possible, try to pour copper on the top
side too in the unused areas, and connect it to gnd with via stitches
Hi Mike,
design-make project library
Save the library with the changes.
open the schematics where you want to update the part.
in schematic: click Design:Update Parts in Cache
Go back to the library, click on the component that you want to update so
that it is highlighted.
Then click update
Thanks Dennis.

set the default via size in tool prefs defaults
when you place via it will use that one
If gerber plots were not rounded off, there would be no problem with the
virtual shorts, and, in fact, if fab houses fabbed the boards as-is
without modifying the gerber, there would also be no problem.
But Protel does some rounding and it is not easy to exactly control
aperture assignments
could you repost your alternative?
i missed it
i did find that origin pin 1 seemed to nail the issue and make no gap
even in gerber 2.4
my gap was i think .005 mil
in the (bad) case of using center origin and using gerber 2.3 i think
the
result was a 2 mil gap as the edges of the pads were

Yes it is possible to set up toolbars for at least some of these functions.
I have a toolbar with the PlaceVia function attached to a button. As a test
I have just added another PlaceVia button - this time with the Parameters

Make sure the 'Sheet Path' in the part properties is blank in the library
and shows an asterix * in the placed component on the Sch.
I once had somebody enter part name details into this field in the library
and the component refused to connect to anything in the netlist even though
it was listed
Only open sheets in the schematic will be updated by Update Schematics;
same with Design | Update parts in cache. So be sure all sheets are open
first (easy way: File | Open Full Project).
