I reckon the reason you can't go into standby is because you are using a screensaver for off based on an applet that isn't loaded (eg CustomClock). I believe standby isn't any lower power is just changes the display. IIRC 7.5 introduces auto reloading of applets. HTH CW -- Chunkywizard
