Depending on the height of your seat, the bag would have to hang pretty low to be in contact with the exposed part of the cable. Even then, I would think it might make a mark but wouldn’t damage the bag. There’s not enough movement in the cable to do much harm. --Eric Norris campyonly...@me.com

With large bags there is a good chance that it will rub the brake cable. However, maybe if it is large enough to rest on a rear rack it may not. I don't have experience with really large bags. I have a Sackville Small, which is fairly large compared to normal saddlebags, and it rubs. I do have

I've done that too, with all sorts of bags, but it's too inconvenient (for me, personally) -- I want a carrier that I can shove things in, cover up, and click or strap closed. And I'll bet that the family sized 2 gallon bag of Cheez Doodles won't take kindly to being cinched down on top of the bag.
