SRAM's 9 speed cassettes and rear derailleurs are not compatible with SRAM's
10 speed cassettes and rear derailleurs as far as I know. It has to do with
the amount of cable pull and the separation between the rear cogs. I doubt
it's just a matter of adjusting the limit screws since the 9 and 10 spe

I don't think you can, as the cable pull will be incompatible. However, you
can use a friction barend shifter with the double compact, which is how I
ran my AHH for a short time. Sram double compact front and Shimano 9 speed
rear with Shimano barend shifters. I don't recall if Sram's barend shifter
I used SRAM Rival and Red on my pre-Rivendell days. In fact, when I first
built my AHH I just used the Rival group I removed from the Gunnar frame I
sold and bought the SRAM bar-end shifters. Compact front 172.5mm cranks (2nd
generation) and 12-28 rear cassette. I loved it, but at 275 lbs, getting

My saddle height on both bikes is set at 76.5cm; with your saddle height I
do agree that standover with the 60 Bombadil should not be an issue. I
haven't hurt myself, but I always get very conscious of the top tube height
when straddling the bike, especially if wearing sandals... :-)

the P-clamps to be able to use the Big Front Rack below the Neo-Retro

Glad I have my Bombadil... gladder now! I liked the concept better when it
was like a Yves or Betty with a top tube with a long diagonal. Now, it just
seems to me the front triangle is split and doesn't quite flow with the rear
triangle...

Keen Coronado Cruiser shoes and the grip is excellent while still

I did that when commuting, but stopped out of concern. Still, I can
usually only hear a car behind me when it's right on top of me. With
my progressive glasses, turning my head is almost useless if I want to

The Schwalbe Marathon Supremes have a max recommended pressure of 85 psi.
That seems to be irrespective of the size (I have the 35 on the AHH and the
50 on the Bombadil). I end up pumping the rear one to about 80 and the front

After all the great feedback regarding my post on hand pain, I finally
removed my Moustache bars (will be up for sale shortly) and got a set of
48cm Noodle bars, the same I have on my AHH. I'm using the shorter Nitto

(gigantic) basket. What you use it for, what you carry, etc. I got the
Medium one with the medium basket and find the combination quite handy (to

I have a pair of the new Marathon Extremes, 700x40c that I got for my
Bombadil. I have to say that they feel very smooth on pavement with a low
rolling resistance. In fact, I also have a set of Marathon Supreme 700x2.0
and they feel comparable, although I haven't done a real side by side test.

I used them with excellent results in my Gunnar (pre-Rivendell) as it had
S&S couplers so I could travel with it. They never require an adjustments as
they are designed to always be used with the same parts, to allow easy
separation.
