I started with the 6kW 240V AC EcoGen as a field trial participant in Generac's
beta testing of the EcoGen in an off-grid environment in 2010. Later I upgraded
to the 15kW kW 240V AC model. I very pleased with this model too.
So, consider Generac as an option too.

I've used Visio (MicroSoft) for years and it works well for 1-line
and 2-line drawings. Can also export to and import from AutoCad. Has
great internal symbol libraries, or you can create your own.

I have a customer with an outback Radian system as well as an SMA TL
inverter. He would like to plug a small battery charger into the emergency
outlet on the SMA if the grid goes down and send that little extra juice
into his battery bank. Is there an issue with two systems charging the

It's 4.4 (x2) I parallel so should be ok. Usually if the battery based inverter
is too small the SB would "push" the voltage around until the SB disconnects.

Good point on the battery monitor. It would be easy to add a Magnum BMK to
system and get the battery history. Also the ARC (advanced remote control)
stores fault history so you can see when the LBCO occurred along with battery
voltage etc.

We have been asked to lower the DC input voltage to take advantage of these
batteries. What engineering is saying is we can't go low enough on the low side
and still produce peak AC voltage. Seems these batteries are catching on might
need to revisit this again.
