How do I deny a user (say user xyz , that I assossiate with xyz.com ) , from telnet ?

IPtables can work based on name resolution...I have a port opened for a
particular service based on a system's hostname...this is done because the
system has a dynamic DNS thing going on, and occasionally his IP does
change.

picture of your network topology. My initial reaction to your ifconfig
output is that you have two networks with the same ip address. I would
think that you would need two different ip addresses, one for each device.

I am also getting duplicate emails and currently trying to get off of the list (twice by putting "unsubscribe" in the subject area) but have not had any luck in being removed. Currently, I am trying to go through 532 messages.
