Looks like I've met the expert from other side of the continent.
Currently I'm using SAMBA 2.1.x in my RH8, it's PDC for our network...for user
authentication propose only.
Now, I'm trying with other OS, for start point, I have Sun Solaris 2.x
in another network. Anyone has experience on SAMBA

Depends on the card, unfortunately. If you have a 3Com card, you might see
something like this in your /etc/modules.conf:
alias eth1 3c59x
The other end is a dsl modem. I used to get 100Mbps link with NIC and
DSL modem under Windows XP.

I am just interested to get things working the way they should. I know
DSL does not exceed 768 Kbps in my case. However, being an IT
professional, I would like to know how to force a NIC to work at the max
speed. After all I am using RH Linux for learning. Thanks for your help.

We want to distribute our product on a CD to our customers.
We want the customer to enter a CD into their CD drive and boot it up. The
CD will then:
1) Format the Hard Drive
2) Ask the user some questions
3) Install a full version of redhat
4) after installation do things depending on the

setup as primary IDE master on a compaq deskpro en PII 400mghz...
and I have win98 2nd editon installed on a compaq scsi
then you must be doing something wrong...mandrake does it very nicely
do a completely NEW/FRESH install ...don't do a upgrade...just do the
default install

Have you tried
differences in redhat, i prefer it to mandrakeand wish
everything to work.
for some reason mandrake has always been able to see and setup
everything correctly...
why can't redhat, as mandrake (I'm told is basically a modified redhat
system).

The pop3 users can "just sit on it" if they can't check their mail for a
minute, but we can't have our incoming mail lost in cyberspace. I'd be
curious to know if backing up pop3 is even possible - I don't quite see
how it could be, short of running the whole outfit as a virtual server
