I know I can add it to rc.local, but is there a RedHat place?

the files in them but when I try to download all I see is a timeout message
after a couple of
How can I use tmpwatch or something else to just delete files with a
certain extension instead of everything in the directory, I want to

specific directory

So I'm stumped on this one.
I'm trying to connect to ftp.mcafee.com, problem is that I get a connection
refused if I do it from the Linux box that is the firewall.
If I try it from a windows box behind the firewall it works fine
I ran a tcpdump to see if it would help I'm pasting it in the
No, but its not that dificult to upgrade by the source code, once you do it that
way you will always do it that way, a quick and dirty would be
rpm -i kernel-source then copy the config you want from /usr/src/linux-
2.4/configs /usr/src/.config
then rpm -e kernel-source
then download a new
Ya, I thought about that, but perl is only one of them, I have a good
30 or 40 perl modules installed that were installed through cpan, so
I'd also have to get those rpm's, I was just wondering if you could
update the rpm database to include other stuff withough actually
going to the trouble
You have to rebuild the sendmail.cf with the sendmail.mc from /etc/mail
if you don't know how to do it just ask but basically you need sendmail-cf and
m4 installed and type
m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
then copy the sendmail.cf to /etc when you have verified it is good.
Well if you really want to do it look at either UW imap or the cyrus
Imap server, both see up to the task, if you pick UW Imap make sure
that you switch the default folder create format from what it is to
mbx.
for the clients you could use almost anything that supports imap :)
Groupwise
how do you set the umask of a daemon running as a particular
user?
I change it in the .bash_profile but it doesn't do anything, where is
it set?

I see these messages in the logs now, where this never happened
before, Shaw just changed the dhcp servers and set them to a 1
hour lease, so I get these messages every hour
If I stop and restart the network it seems to get a lease just fine.
Any ideas?

I keep seeing the following message appearing in
my messages log about every 5-7 mins
kernel: cdrom: open failed
how do I figure out what it is?
I'm using a 2.4.0 Kernel and there is no cdrom
in the drive
If I type dmesg
I see alternating
kernel: cdrom: open failed
VFS: Disk change detected on
Well in a nutshell, assuming no mistakes and no scsi modules
make dep
make clean
make bzImage
cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.18
make modules
make modules_install
edit the /etc/lilo.conf
add a whole new section for the new kernel that looks like this
I get this these message scrolling up my screen about 30 seconds
after loading ip_nat_ftp or it seems after any nat modules.
and that is without creating any firewall rules at all.
how can I get rid of that message, or what am I doing wrong?
I did notice that I get a pile of those messages
I was doing the modules thing..
What kind of controllers are they? What chipsets do they use?
Do you have the SCSI support for them in your kernel or loaded as modules?

I do boot from this adapter fine, but what do I have to do to change
it, I'm thinking if I screw this up I'll have a system that will not boot :(
ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI!
