The nicest way is in /etc/modules.conf and it will be something like 'alias
parport ppa'.
Someone with a zip drive will correct me as I know that's not exactly right.

between vfat and /dev/hdd4

Try /dev/hdc4 and make sure you have a directory called "iomega" in your mnt
directory.
AFWIW, I can't get auto to work on mine either.. wish it did!

and it works fine for my zip 100 (not plus) running redhat 6.0.

I too, have fallen victim to this problem--twice! The first time it
happened, I had never heard of the problem and I kept re-trying with
different disks (it's an internal drive in a non-portable PC, so I don't
think moving the drive around was aproblem in my case). I ended up hosing
three or fou
to Mount a zip with vfat I do this:
(I have a directory at the root level called /zip)
mount -t vfat /dev/sdc4 /zip
To mount as msdos
mount -t msdos /dev/sdc4 /zip
Add an entry in /etc/fstab to automatically mount it at boot time.
