OK, I've finally got my Samba-LDAP PDC operational. Everything seems to work fine but it takes an age to save settings when logging off. What can I do (i.e. what would one normally do) to speed things up? I do have a huge volume of files under ~/profile/My Documents Will this affect the logo

I am new to Linux and running SuSE V8.0 with KDE desktop and Samba 2.2.7 on a small bnetwor5k which also has a Windows NT PC and a notebook. On the Linux PC's I have used LinNeighborhood to mount the various shares and can readily view files on the Linux PC's, or on the windoze machines. I ha

yep the files have to be copied back and forth... I encourage my users to keep their files on the server and work on them in place. I redirect My Documents to their home directory on the server. Do you do that with a link? I also move mozilla's cache into their Local Settings folder We use IMA

all turns around the new red hat choice of i18n settings with utf8 i just couldn't have some consistent behaviour between windows/samba/linux putting LANG=fr_FR (instead of fr_FR.UTF-8) in /etc/sysconfig/i18n solved this problem btw it also solved some others may this help others too A 10:39 25
