I am on the Tropical Traditions mailing list, and a couple times a year
they run one day specials of free shipping. A 5 gallon container of
coconut with free shipping is a very good deal!

Our local Costco is now selling coconut oil for $20 per gallon. I think
that beats Tropical Traditions price.

I've been getting Nutiva VCO from Swanson's which is more expensive, but the
flavor is VERY mild which we like. How is the flavor of Tropical Traditions?
(We do't have Costco in upstate NY)

We have been using Tropical Traditions coconut oils for many many years. We
get both the Virgin Coconut Oil (

Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil. We use the expeller one for cooking fat,
anything from when we are cooking a fried egg to
That would depend on the quality, Brickey.

I don't have a local Costco. Sure wish I did. I'd trade the wally world
in a heartbeat for a Costco.

Lena,
I get the Tropical Traditions expeller process which has no odor and no
coconut flavor. I got so I would nearly puke at the smell of virgin
coconut oil and couldn't use it at all. Nutiva if memory serves was
milder than either Tropical Traditions or Wilderness Family extra virgin
I have never bought from this seller, but the information on the different
coconut oils is very interesting:
http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/information-on-coconut-oil-processes.php
and this article by Bruce Fife is interesting on choosing a coconut oil:
Hi Joyce,
Thanks for the info! Except for a little olive oil on salads once in a while,
we use VCO exclusively and love it. Youtube has an interesting series on a Dr.
treating her Alzheimer's husband with VCO, too. Feeds affected brain cells more
effectively than glucose.
Be well,
Léna
