Guys, Gordy is a lot of fun to fly with and a pretty tough competetor.
Conditions were not the best but all were in good spirits and having fun
together. I was nipping at his heels and eventually got third with a
Compulsion. Gordy is a fine timer. However, I was gloating a bit about
beating him

For those owners of the JR9303 radio, the data safe now works with it.
You have to download some new software from the website. Look under Data
Safe 2 -- Manuals. I suggest Horison make this more clear and start to
provide the new software CD. The technician yesterday was momentairly

Lee, We also considered using something like spectra for a retreiver
until one of our guys thought about the accident potential. Braided
nylon (or is it dacron, I never can remember until I get out the Memphis
catalog) can be dangerous so we always wear a good glove. Spectra would
go through a ha
Hey Jim, I am very pleased with my JR 9303 on ham band. Note also that
all the receivers except PCM stuff use the same shift so will work well
with each other. I am currently running JR, Futaba and FMA receivers
with the same JR transmitter. On the other hand, there is no way to
change a 72 MHz
Its too windy to fly here on the east coast of Florida, so maintanence
time. (Yes, I know, what a wimp. I can and have flown contests in pretty
bad wind but why risk a plane when there will be better days soon.) The
question is about batteries. I need to replace a number of sailplane
batteries. T
So, I have this new JR9303 transmitter and am thrilled with it. BUT, I
have finally found something of a weakness. I would like to store
(backup) the data which I have labored to optimize for each plane and
there could be up to thirty planes. The options appear to be two:

Anybody seen the newest Lithium battery from Toshiba? I ran across a
blurb on their web site claiming all sorts of great things most
astounding was a 80% recharge time of about one minute! I wonder how
much drain current the battery is capable of. Not available for a few
months to a year yet. Co
Rick, I like Trojan T-105 very much. It is 6 volt 225 AH. Designed for
golf carts and produced in volume so price is good. Designed for heavy
discharge.

I am interested in a shorter antenna for my JR9303. A base loaded antenna
and adapter is available but specified only for 72 MHz. operation. Is
there an option for 51 MHz operation? I have succesfully used a Smiley
rubber ducky on 51 MHz. with a Futaba transmitter with my power planes
but I am unc
So I have got this nifty new JR9303 radio and a beloved full house
sailplane. I know the plane flies very well and all the servos are set up
etc. The flight program resides in a Futaba transmitter so I am starting
over again pretty much. Neutrals and reversing is a piece of cake but
now I have fi
Sunday our club is having a monthly contest and this time it is
sailplanes. I have been promoting glider flying in our club for about the
last five years and the club contests now draw about 20 souls who are
getting much more competent with their planes. It was a nice day and no
one broke anything.
Just got my 9303 and starting to charge batteries and read the manual. A
few general questions arise:
Is there a copy function to make duplication of similiar models easier?
Is there a diode in the charging circuit?
I would like to use a larger (1650 mah which is the same physical size)
NiMH batter
Some questions about the new JR radio: Is the R700 and /or R770 receiver
of a form factor conducive to the usual 3 meter sailplane fuse
dimensions?
Can the TX be easily converted by the user to Mode one operation? (mode
one is elevator and rudder on the left stick) My present Futaba 8UAX

I need to take a business trip to Beaverton OR and have tuesday evening
open. Some years ago I attended a PASS meeting at McMinimins (sp ?) and
had a great time with the guys. I seem to remember it was on a tuesday
and wanted to check if I am coming on the right time. Anything going on

With all the talk about receivers, does anyone have Futaba 148DF on CH08
or thereabouts? I have had good luck with FMA Quantum 8 also. I changed
over to ham band last year and am slowly replacing receivers as I get the
loot or good deals.
I do have one comment about the ham bands. Some of the
Fellow glider guiders, It is a small thing, but bothersome. When I push
in the somewhat tight fitting aluminum wingrod into the fuse, it sheds a
nasty black tarnish like substance. This gets all over my hands and
thence onto my nice white wings. It cleans off with citrus cleaner. But,
is there a
Our cub has a winch / retreiver setup which works very well for us. The
winch is well maintained and equipped with Real Balls which means strong.
The club is mainly a power club and I have taken on the task of promoting

Got my M5 receiver a few days ago and popped it into my Little Hornet 4
channel electric. I did not cut the antenna which is made of a nice light
wire. I have had a number of good flights down at the corner lot with no
glitches or problems. This guy is really small and easy to stuff into a

I got a few questions about my 50 MHz. post last night. Yes I am using
the same rubber ducky antenna for both 72 and 50 MHz. operation. I just
swap the Futaba modules into my 8UAFS transmitter. This may seem
counterintuitive but remember that the stock whip antenna on the TX is
the same length fo
Mark, I and a number of friends have been using duckies for over three
years now. I got my first from NSP and I bought a spare directly from
Smiley antenna. I started with a 9VAP transmitter and now use two 8UAP
transmitters from Futaba. All the transmitters have the BNC connector
mount installed.
Is the Saggitta 900 nostalga legal under the most often used rules? I
seem to remember that is not - it basically marked the beginning of a
newer class of sailplanes and is generally excluded from nostalga events.
Also, does anyone have an unbuilt fiberglass fuse for this sailplane or

Glenn, Do you know of any quantitative data which supports this position?
I was of the opinion that the data concerning various sunlight radiation
has not shown an increase at reasonable elevations. What data is

Dave and Tom, We just purchased a Rahm retriever and are very satisfied
with it. Call Cy Rham 310 866 2405. He is in CA so watch the time. He
was very cordial to me and delivered a unit in about three weeks. Bear in
mind that this unit runs on 6 volts and takes a little skill to operate
properly
Steve, Regards to a relocation to Orlando - There are a lot of thermal
