I wld rescan the library -- cldn't take that long ! And let LMS do
rescans overnight, if you update content regularly ...
Do it overnight if you have a HUGE many-TB library .. mine is under 2T,
and just moved to a newer LMS server. Scan took under 1 hour...the
library itself is on a NAS..
Nice thread ... using TrueNas, but just for the music library. The LMS
running on a VM. TrueNas is such a great platform.

I have "overloaded" my favorites in LMS, and would like to remove a few
dozen entriesthe gui works, but 1 at a time is pretty tedious ..
I see 2 favorites.opml files, and tried editing (nano) ... the edits do
not stay ---
I am editing the files in the /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs

What are the symptoms of the dying disks ? How old is the netgear ? --
is it no longer supported ?
You could go the RPi route, as suggested, with your library of music
attached via external USB disk, or network share.
You cld also build a new NAS using a platform like 'Freenas'
Brilliant ! I was missing the "?" after the slash --
http://lms:9000/?player=04:20:17:21:c7 gets me the correct player --
*Many thanks !*

Hello - I have 2 players currently - upstairs (squeezebox) and
downstairs (picore player)
I would like the upstairs unit to show up (squeezebox) as the default
player when I go to the web interface...it always defaults to
"picoreplayer", so it seems to be alphabetical... I have tried renaming
Have you added COLDBREW to the local hosts file ?? unless it is
registered in your local dns, the computer will not know what to do with
COLDBREW ... what happends if you type ping COLDBREW from the command
prompt ?
127.0.0.1 is present by default in your local hosts file, so that will
always

Thank you for explaining the bahavior of favorites file -- before
editing, I stopped the LMS service on the server -- (I assume this is
the only service that needs to be stopped )
I was able to edit the opml file, and new headings etc showed up ... the
motivation for this is to find a better
I see the favorites.opml and favorites.opml.backup files, but can only
edit the .backup file ... the actual favorites file cannot be edited
(nano editor reports that it is exclusively accessed by root) ..
I am unclear what triggers changes to the .backup file... I went to the
Web UI, and edited
Thank you for the detailed reply -
I think I will stick with 16.04 for now ... absolutely no plms with this
, so stick with a winner !

Currently hosting LMS on Ubuntu server 16.04. Is there any 'pressing'

I am considering moving my LMS library off the older vortexbox hw onto a
newer FreeNas platform. I would like to use NFS on the FreeNas box for
the library.
I have the NFS share setup on the FreeNas box, copied some music folders
over, and can access from a Linux client..
Do I simply need to
Thanks for clearing this up ...

Hello - I am simply "buffaloed" as to how to get LMS to playback a VLC
music stream, which is being hosted locally.
I am sending the stream out from one computer on the home network. I can
play the stream on another computer on the home network with VLC as
client - no problems there, so URL etc
Just like everyone else - Thanks !

I was able to move it to an existing media folder directory, and
scanning is fine...my plm is if I wished to move it to a higher
directory ...
i.e. from /storage/mp3/Opera to /storage/Opera
Not a huge issue since everything scans ok etc.., I just see no errors
etc which may explain why I cannot
Sorry - don't know the OS, but I seem to have the same issue adding a
new media folder to LMS, using the browser ... I have 9 folders
currently setup ... trying to add a 10th called opera, but it does not
allow me to apply the new folder... The directory permissions are the
same as the other
Thank you -- I have some fun chores ahead of me --- I have a much better
understanding of this now ...

Hello -
Here is what I do (Duet controller)
Clear current playlist
My Music -> Genre -> Oldies
press +
Select Play
It will show artwork from previous playlist (in this case, Renaissance
music)
The playlist is not a saved playlist ...
when I save the playlist (I called it test) then I open
Hello - I have been looking for where artwork is for playlists - I have
a playlist of oldies pop (files come from several different folders) -
but playlist shows artwork of a classical conductor ...
If I make a playlist from a specific folder, the artwork is correct, as
the image is in the same
