Several of us were pulling eight car trains, Bachmann cars with metal wheels, this past weekend with our Ruby's at Larry Hergets. Mine has a low serial number and the other loco was brand new and around the 600 serial number range. The new loco ran beautifully(slow) once we got everything timed

Geoff, The experiments were attempted as planned. The first, acetic acid plus stove alcohol, produced an odor similar to that of airplane glue or laquer thinner. This was no surprise because of the chemical relationship between ethanol, acetic acid, and acetone. The second experiment, which

Bruce, would your or members of your steamer group be willing to share with this thread your timing procedure? I was fortunate that my engine was reasonably adjusted but the one I am currently working with does not want to slow down after I solved the problem of steam pressure loss. By gauge

Hello Listers. We just had a nice steamup at Larry Herget's house. During one of the usual steamup discussions, one of the guests made the comment that St. Louis would be a nice central location for a national steamup. I thought I would throw some of the comments out to this list to see what

I would tend to think that live steamers in general don't need an excuse to boil water, just a location. St. Louis would be great! Personally, I'd tend to want to push it later in the year, say September or October, just don't make it Columbus Day weekend - All good steamers should be at the East
