A simple solution I have used with Scouts and museum visitors is to draw an analemmatic dial for your approximate latitude on a small piece (say 4"x4") of wood or "Foamcore." Surround the ellipse with a circle divided as a compass. Use a hatpin or a toothpick for a vertical gnomon, and se
