JK2 and mod_jk have load balancing and really cool stuff like that. It's more the direction things are going. It also loadbalances across different machines. mod_webapp was designed for a single machine using the WARP protocol. >From the name you can tell is was designed to be fast. And it is.

I believe that this is a known problem and one suggested workaround is to do the following: "Uncomment the line "ServerName=localhost" and changed "localhost" to "www.ajug.org". Unless this line is uncommented, then Apache will generate an error (Invalid virtual host name) when restarted.

I believe the makefile is wrong. I had to look at the output of the make command and find a command near the end that was run in the /apache-2.0 dir that was linking mod_webapp.la. I then copies that command, added the -shared flag and changed the output to mod_webapp.so. This worked for me w
