I don't know but it has one thing going for it.
it has *it's own powersupply* and would not bog down the 5.0v from the
USB connector on the Touch this is crucial for success as most USB
powered discs break the spec (without telling you, disc mfg cheats) and
the Touch can supply up the USB spec

Hi,
I'm a very happy user of Squeeze Commander a Samsung Galaxy Tab for
that 7 Touch remote.
For the same reasons as iPeng on iPad, it's a slightly different but
equally brilliant multi tasking combination...

One word iPeng. Get some kind of 'iThing' and download the iPeng app.
This gives you in your face anywhere your WiFi network reaches control
of any and all Squeezeboxes on ones network. And one ends up with an
Apple device that can be used elsewhere. iPad, iPhone, iTouch all make

+1 for iPod Touch and iPeng. I got an iPod Touch recently and loaded
iPeng on it before I loaded any music on it :-). It really is

My favorite feature is that albums are displayed in *year* order! :-).
I've been waiting for years for Logitech to fix this in their software.

@Seven:
Thanks for the spreadsheet - that was very helpful! I cut-n-pasted all
of the codes into ProntoEdit and they work. (Well, most of them: the
code for '1' is actually '0', the one for '2' is '1', the one for '3'
is '2'. I had the Pronto learn the code for '3' and now I have a full
set.)
@Peterw:
Rather than rearranging everything in my Pronto, I tried the make the
SB Touch understand the JVC codes by editing irMap_default like you
suggested. I can confirm that it does not work.

I am sometimes getting the message: 'local music service has been
stopped due to a problem' on my (brand new!) SB Touch.
I keep my music collection on about 60 GB of a 320GB 2,5 bus-powered

I've got a bunch of Western Digital drives and the one thing I can't

How many albums do you have?
Does iPeng ever finish loading the list of albums?
What comments are you trying to do that lock up the touch?

So let me ask this: Could someone please tell me what currently

the above outlined criteria so I will only have to buy a hard drive

Yeah, I figured if I did it, it would be when I first got an empty

at least it is an option after disabling the SmartWare to finally get
rid of it.

That's the problem -- it doesn't even scan. When I go into the

Sorry, I meant to say that it says Discovering files: complete, when
it doesn't appear to have actually tried to scan the drive or discover
any files.

I was just trying out a WD hard drive with the SB Touch and had the
exact same problem. Turned out that I had formatted the drive (FAT32)
on my Mac and it created an extra partition. This was a very small
partition, but it was the first one. I think the Touch picks up the
first partition only.
