Hi there,
I have a user reporting crashes of his Touch, but he cannot find the
server.log, to see if there's any interesting message in there.
He's running the Touch with TinySC activated from a SDCard. I always
thought that the logs would be saved there, aren't they?
Where does he needs to

I think most here would advise you to try both and see which one you
like. All outputs on the Touch are active simultaneously
I suspect your h/k receiver has input switching, so connect both
digitial and analog outputs from the Touch and you can just go back
forth

Ok John, thanks for the reply. I didn't realise you had already tried
the updated driver.
Even so, do you think there would be any benefit in me trying it here?
Just clinging on to the last bit of hope that maybe my DAC would give a
different result to your own one.
Other than that, I guess I
on topic: it is usually best to use the digital input on any ht
reciever, true analog pasthrue is an anachronism that most mfg's only
offer in their more expensive models ( if at all present, pure bla
bla does not meanthat much ) any processing at all would invoke the
dsp and thus an extra da-ad
Thank you...it seems to be a minimal difference at best on my equipment.
Would I need a digital connection to take advantage of the high res
audio capabilities of the touch?

there's no separate server.log, but it's all piped to /var/log/messages

Hi Michael, thanks for the help.
Is there any 'easy' way to obtain the logs (does your support ever need
those logs?) or is SSH/SCP the only way to retrieve them?
Furthermore I'm wondering if after a crash it would be useless to
retrieve the logs anyway, due to this (rather old and maybe
I'm using the Squeezebox server built into the Touch with an external
USB HD. I have a strange issue with the ALBUMARTIST, one that I haven't
seen in any searches yet.
I only have a few albums tagged with the ALBUMARTIST tag, in almost
every case where the actual artists name is a pseudonym.

You can use the SMB share to get them.

Great. Guess that should help me for now.
Thanks a lot.

Hi michaelbuday
I have only had my Squeezebox Touch for a couple of weeks and am also
connecting media via USB rather than via ethernet. This may not
directly answer your question about why you get scrambled tracks but
you could try my approach.
When my external hard-disk drive is connected to
Hi LJG
I am in a similar position to you. The posts that your entry follows
are quite old and I suspect that the market is changing very rapidly.
Not long ago a NAS seemed to be a mini-server and cost a couple of
limbs - without a hard-disk installed!
More recently, it looks to me as though
During random song play only, a track ocassionally still ending
prematurely and skipping to next track. My entire library is flac,
predominantly 16/44.1 but also some 24/96 but has only skipped ahead on
RB rips. In the server log, SBS shows no errors. I do run two Touches
from the same server.
