Well, the good news is that the odd combination of the latest 7.6 SBS +
r8837 (from 7.5.2) has mended my Touch - it is working perfectly
again.
The bad news is that any recent version of the 7.6 firmware semi-bricks
it again.

OK - thanks everyone. Forcing the firmware back to 7.5.2 r8837 seems to
have fixed it. I had to connect a USB keyboard to get enough control
over the UI to do this.
I don't know if it was actually the latest 7.6 firmware that caused
this? When I have more time, I'l try updating back to that and

server you can also use Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics to reload the
firmware off of the server.

This seems like a real sticky problem. I'm pulling at straws here, but
could there be a process that is crashing? Are core dumps enabled on
the Touch by default? If not, I've used the command "ulimit -c
unlimited" on Linux systems to enable them. If you look at the man
page for ulimit, I belie

Phil is using beta software 7.6 I'm too, so we are getting upgrades

I managed to get the IR working (briefly). So both screen and IR CAN
work - probably not a hardware failure then.
I've done endless factory resets. Nothing will restore my Touch to its
former glory. I've changed the power supply, just in case.
SSH and WEB UI continue to work fine.

Well it seems the IR capability of my Touch has completely died. I now
have touchscreen following the factory reset.
I wonder if anyone else has had the Touch IR die like this?

Not good I'm afraid. Managed after several attempts to use the touch
screen to do a factory reset. IR still not working, but touch screen
works in fits and starts. Mostly it just doesn't respond at all.
Fortunately I don't use the touchscreen or IR remote very much - almost

Early on in the Beta mine bricked very similar to this. Richard walked
me through using SSH to take the Touch all the way back to Red Boot so
we could make it load new firmwar

Does anyone know if a factory reset is likely to fix my non-functional
IR & Touchscreen?... and if it is even possible to do a factory reset
from SSH or the command line interface as these seem to be the only
means I have of accessing the Touch!

Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 and assorted amps
SiriuS, Classe' Prima
My Touch won't respond to IR remote or the Touch screen. I can SSH in
via Putty and the WEB UI of SBS works perfectly.
The rest button on the back will do a reboot for short press, but the
long press for system reset doesn't work.
Has anyone else seen this?
