Same problem here. Fresh install of Xubuntu 11.04 on an Acer Aspire
3620 laptop with AR2413 wireless (wireless worked flawlessly on previous
versions of Xubuntu). After booting, or when I disable and then re-

installed Natty: When pressing the 'disable touchpad'-key (Fn + F5 in my

I couldn't persuade apt-setup/proposed=true to cause the installer to do it -
however I ctrl-alt-f2'd and chroot'd into the mounted filesystem before
rebooting at the end of install and that does seem to have worked - thanks.
My test environment isn't that difficult to replicate;
Same symptoms here, with a ThinkPad Edge 13 (AMD) too, but it's running
11.04 64bit, kernel version is 2.6.38-8-generic. The bug occured 4 times
in 3 days, once was when waking from sleep.

I don't notice any memory leaks since the last unity update about 2 days
ago. My computer is running for over two days and compiz is using 100
MB of RAM.

I have a fully installed and patched Natty at June 11, 2011, and while
the BIOS can see my CDROM drive, the OS doesn't recognise it. Doesn't
seem to be just a LiveCD issue. Will investigate plugging it into
different port.
Note, the install was done via USB, so I didn't encounter this problem
Related tp the code dealing with hal, dropped in 4.8.

Can you please install the latest mainline kernel clicking on the following
links:

There is an option to auto connect, if you look in the connection list.
If it does not work, probably you can't reconnect manually either and
that is the reason it does not work.
